Webcast: Leveraging Web 2.0 Securely
Event Date: Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 11:00am PT / 2:00pm ET
Speakers: Tony Bradley, CISSP, Microsoft MVP and Mark Guntrip, Sr. Product Marketing Manager, Websense
The Web 2.0 is not tangible. There is no specific product that can upgrade the Web from 1.0 to 2.0. The Web 2.0 represents a natural evolution to the next-generation use of the Web as a business platform that enables collaboration and creativity. Using Web 2.0 technologies such as blogs, wikis, and social networking, businesses can interact with partners and vendors, and engage customers in an entirely new way. Strategic use of Web 2.0 technologies can greatly enhance the image and presence of small and medium businesses, and effectively level the playing field to help them compete directly with larger enterprises.
Unfortunately, malware developers and hackers also see the advantages of exploiting Web 2.0. The core of Web 2.0 is built on a foundation of open collaboration and communication which blur network boundaries and increase risk. There have been many breaches of company networks and customer data as a result of weaknesses in how Web 2.0 technologies are configured or secured.
This webcast will focus on Web 2.0 technologies, understanding the risks involved, and steps to eliminate or mitigate the risks and securely leverage Web 2.0 to find and retain customers, and drive business.
