The Little Black Book of Computer Security – 2nd Edition
Joel Dubin is a peer of mine who I consider a friend and who I respect as a computer security professional. I found his Little Black Book of Computer Security to be a good resource for network and security administrators. The pamphlet-sized book does not try to teach computer security, or even delve into details about any computer security issues really. It is more of a checklist, more or less in outline form, of the things that should be considered, or implemented in order to establish effective computer and network security. I was honored when the publisher asked me to review a pre-release copy of the 2nd edition. I am even more honored that they chose to quote my comment on the back cover of the book: “The 2nd edition of The Little Black Book of Computer Security builds on the original by including the vast changes that have occurred in information security over the past few years. Dubin includes sections specifically devoted to privacy and identity theft, regulatory compliance, and protecting Web servers from the next-generation attacks that have plagued Web sites.”
